uplifting - energising - joyful - exhilarating - healing

We are the only American style mass gospel choir in the heart of Surrey. We sing a range of contemporary and traditional gospel music by UK and US artists directed by the incredible Hermione Thomas. Founded in 2011 we are a true community choir, open to all. Our choir members come from all walks of life, faith and non-faith.  We meet from 7.30pm - 9.30pm on Monday evenings, during term-time, in the Octagon at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Church Street, Godalming GU7 1ER.

About the Choir

A little bit of history

We are a community gospel choir based in Godalming, south of Guildford in Surrey.  Godalming Community Gospel Choir was founded by Emma-Sue Prince in 2011 who had been singing with London-based gospel choirs for a number of years. On moving to Godalming with her family, Emma Sue missed the passion and dynamics of gospel-singing and decided to start GCGC.

Her vision was to have an inclusive gospel choir open to all and aspiring to musical excellence. Starting with workshops Godalming Community Gospel Choir (GCGC) now has many members of all ages and from all backgrounds.

GCGC is an award-winning gospel choir having won several categories in local competitions and reaching the national finals of BBC Gospel Choir of the Year competition in 2015.

We are very grateful to St Peter and St Paul's Church (Godalming Parish Church) for their consistent support since the choir began.

GCGC is run by a small voluntary board and is non-profit.

If you would like to join GCGC just get in touch using the form below. No audition necessary!
