Blizzard has already showcased Diablo 4 gameplay

Keeping that in mind, it's likely that the long-awaited Diablo 4 beta may be nearing its end as dataminers recently discovered a string of references to something referred to as "Fenris" inside the Battle.net game launcher. People who have been following the development timeline of Blizzard may remember the fact that "Fenris" is actually the name of the game's internal codename Diablo 4. suggesting that certain major work is in the process of being completed.

Diablo players have had the opportunity to sign up for the forthcoming Diablo 4 beta for some time and so the fact the game would be open for testing has been known for a long time. Details, however, have been lacking, and Blizzard has kept the cards in its proverbial chest, making any leaks that much more intriguing for gamers. Based on the findings of Wowhead's search through the Battle.net configuration files, it appears the beta isn't too far away. Namely, Wowhead discovered numerous references to the earlier mentioned "Fenris," mainly including header images for the launcher as well as similar things.

Blizzard has already showcased Diablo IV Gold gameplay, of course and the game isn't an absolute mystery as of now. However, there's no public announcement regarding the beta itself this makes Wowhead's findings particularly intriguing to fans of the franchise who might have decided to bypass Diablo 4 and its remarkably aggressive monetization system.
